Fonte Monache


Half way between the Adriatic and the Gran Sasso range of the Apennines Fonte Monache is the ideal location to explore Abruzzo’s 133 kilometres of beaches and the highest mountain range south of the Alps.

The house is very old and is built over the ancient spring, the Nuns’ Well, that once supplied water to Montefino. It is in a fabulous south facing location with views of both the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountains. It has been restored to create a luxurious home in a tranquil setting far from the crowds.

The house is designed for all year round vacations. Outside you can barbecue, dine or just relax in one of several seating areas. There is a fully equipped  kitchen, a huge lounge opening to the pool area and a dining room.

Guests have exclusive use of the swimming pool and private gardens and free access to the woodland and olive groves of the adjoining farm.

Fonte Monache lies in a secluded position in a natural  sun trap to the south of the peaceful medieval village of Montefino in the Teramo province of Abruzzo in central Italy.

Nearby farms and villages provide a wide variety of restaurants and shops offering the very best of Abruzzesi produce including fresh pasta, highly rated local wines and hand made cheeses. The owner’s farm produces wonderful olive oil and many different fruits and nuts.
